Veterinarian

 Are you looking for an independent and varied veterinary practice in a thriving farming community – surrounded by splendid Norwegian nature?

We are looking for a full-time veterinarian to care for small and large animals, and livestock in our municipality. The permanent position offers the right candidate a turn-key practice with premises and necessary equipment. You will also have access to a young, versatile and highly qualified work environment as part of our coordinated efforts with the veterinary offices in Mo i Rana, a city just 30 minutes away.

In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities, you will be sharing on-call duties with 6 other veterinarians, with shifts every 5-6 weeks.

Hemnes is situated between the cities Mo i Rana, Mosjøen and Sandnessjøen, making the practice lucrative for services to small animals. Korgen is located in the middle of Hemnes municipality, surrounded by areas with great recreational opportunities from trips to the beach by the fjord, countless hiking trails in forests and mountains, and summit hikes to the glacier Okstindbreen. At the edge of the glacier lies the architectural gem Rabothytta cabin.  There are many good fishing waters as well as a salmon river. With just 40 km to Mo i Rana in the north and 35 km to Mosjøen, the entire region has a rich cultural life and many leisure facilities.

The closest city, Mo i Rana is a town of 26,000 and a short distance to the sea and mountains. The Helgeland coast is an eldorado for kayaking, diving and island hopping. The surrounding mountains offer good opportunities for hikes in summer and winter. There are also very good opportunities for hunting and fishing. The city has a rich cultural life all year round.          

Tasks

• General veterinary services with small and large animals, including livestock. 
• Services with livestock include inseminating and a wide variety of other tasks.

Qualifications

• Completed veterinary education.  Final year students will also be considered.
• You must work as a self-employed person with your own registered company.
• You must have an insemination course approved by Geno, or obtain this within 6 months of employment. Expense coverage for the course can be discussed.
• Driver's license.
• Language skills in Norwegian or another Scandinavian language. Also candidates speaking English will be considered.

We offer

• a veterinary office in our municipal center with the necessary equipment for small animals, large animals and livestock,
• professional collaboration with Rana veterinary office,
• on-duty cooperation with Rana municipality (Rana veterinary office) with shifts ever 5-6 weeks,
• salary according to current wage agreements and a fixed salary supplement which is currently NOK 375,000 per year, in addition to billable income from the practice and on-call allowance.
