Position as Postdoctoral Research Fellow available at Department of Pharmacy
Starting date no later than October 1, 2025.
The appointment is a fulltime position and is for a period of four years (25 % of which is devoted to required duties, usually in the form of teaching activities).
No one can be appointed for more than one Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of Oslo.
More about the position / Project description
The position is associated with the Pharmacokinetics group (PK group) at the Department of Pharmacy. The group works broadly within the field of pharmacokinetics, focusing on individualized drug therapy. The common goal for the projects is to characterize various factors significant for variation in drug response. This includes, among other things, genetic variation in drug-metabolizing enzymes and transport proteins, disease-related factors, drug interactions, and the gut microbiome. We collaborate closely with various clinical environments, particularly the departments of pharmacology and transplantation at Oslo University Hospital, Rikshospitalet. The project associated with this position will, in line with the research group's main focus, study the bilateral effects between the gut microbiome and drugs, and the impact on drug dosing. Relevant methods include pharmacokinetic investigations in patients, shotgun sequencing, bioinformatics, HPLC-MS analysis of drug in different biological matrices, and population pharmacokinetic modelling. The projects are managed in a team with Master’s and PhD students.
Postdoctoral fellows who are appointed for a period of four years are expected to acquire basic pedagogical competency in the course of their fellowship period within the duty component of 25 %.
The main purpose of a postdoctoral fellowship is to provide the candidates with enhanced skills to pursue a scientific top position within or beyond academia. To promote a strategic career path, all postdoctoral research fellows are required to submit a professional development plan no later than one month after commencement of the postdoctoral period.

Candidates for these fellowships will be selected in accordance with this, and expected to be in the upper segment of their class with respect to academic credentials.
Qualification requirements
- Applicants must hold a degree equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in pharmacokinetics. Doctoral dissertation must be submitted for evalua-tion by the closing date. Only applicants with an approved doctoral thesis and public defence are eligible for appointment.
- Fluent oral and written communication skills in English and a Scandinavi-an language
Desired qualifications
- Experience with research on gut microbiome and drugs (pharmacomicro-biomics) is highly advantageous
- Experience with bioanalytical methodology (LC-MS) pharmacometrics and/or computational life science is benefical.
- Experience with Master student supervision is advantageous
- Experience with teaching is advantageous
