Outdoor activity guide (xc skiing and snowshoeing trips) – full time position
Work responsibilities:

Guiding snowshoe, cross country ski trips, and snow-related activities in Tromsø area, mostly 2 to 5 hours «soft adventure» tours. Tromsø Outdoor's goal is to bring people closer to nature, share our everyday life, and introduce our guests to outdoor activities and the Arctic ways of life.

Taking care of the equipment and cars used during the activities.

Occasionally work at Tromsø Outdoor Activity and Rental Center renting out skis, snowshoes, and winter clothes, equipment maintenance, deliveries.
Position Requirements:

Good English spoken proficiency is necessary for the position. German will be a great advantage.

Good cross-country skiing skills and ability to teach beginners to ski.

Relevant professional experience in guiding winter activities.

Outdoor and guiding education will be an advantage.

Knowledge and interest in Norwegian and Tromsø's history, nature, culture, and geography.

Passion for working outdoors, being active, guiding in the wintry Tromsø area, and sharing own interests with guests.

Enjoying and keen to work in a flexible international environment.

Valid permission to work in Norway or EU/EOS citizenship.

Positive, creative, and solution-oriented attitude.

Being used to working independently and taking responsibility for work tasks.

Driving license category B is an advantage for working at this position (it will be an advantage too if you have D1 category license and/or Kjøreseddel). Obtaining kjøreseddel (Norwegian permission to drive people) will be required.
Work period: 28.11.2024-31.03.2024.
Working Scheme Variable shifts between 8:00 and 18:00, between 4 and 9 hours daily, usually ca 7.5 hours daily. Occasionally work at other times (for private tours). 100 % position – on average: 37.5 h/week, 2 days free for each week of work, work during the weekends.
We prefer to employ our team on 100% positions but we can offer positions to candidates with good competencies and available for work 30-80% – 2/4 times a week within flexible time frames or just for the weekends.

Tromsø Outdoor AS has been providing professional guiding and rental services in the Tromsø area since 2006. In 2017 we decided to develop a bike and ski workshop in addition to servicing our own rental equipment, and started offering repair services to local customers in Tromsø. We are a team inspired by Norwegian nature and cultural values. We work to develop a professional community where we can improve our skills and performance. Our main focus is on service quality, local cooperation and creating a good working environment within the company. Last winter our team consisted of 25 people from 15 countries – 10 of them are permanent employees. For the summer we were a team of 15 people. Now we are looking forward to welcoming a few new colleagues who will join us this winter as guides or in the rental center. |
