Job Type: Full-time (100%), permanent position. Start date from January 2025, or as agreed. 

About the role

BISS Sentrum is committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and innovative learning environment where every student can thrive. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Learning Diversity Coordinator to champion and enhance our diversity and inclusion practices across our school. This role includes collaboration with state services such as BUP (Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Services) and PPT (Educational and Psychological Counselling Service) to ensure holistic, integrated support for all students.

As a Learning Diversity Coordinator, you will oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of individualized learning plans, advocate for inclusive practices, and collaborate with teachers, parents, and state support services. You will also manage a team of Learning Support Teachers and Assistants to deliver targeted support, ensuring that allocated hours from BUP and PPT are effectively used to meet students' specific needs.

Key responsibilities

  • Student Support: Conduct assessments, develop individualized education plans (IEPs), and coordinate accommodations to support diverse learners.
  • Collaboration with BUP and PPT: Build a close working relationships with contacts from state support services to provide coordinated, holistic support for students with complex needs.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and guide a team of Learning Support Teachers and staff, ensuring targeted support is delivered effectively and aligned with recommendations from BUP and PPT.
  • Resource Allocation: Strategically plan and implement support interventions based on allocated hours from BUP and PPT, optimizing resources to benefit students’ growth and agreed outcomes.
  • Teacher Support: Partner with class and subject teachers to implement differentiated instruction and inclusive practices, providing training and resources to build capacity in addressing diverse needs.
  • Family Engagement: Maintain open, supportive communication with families, ensuring their involvement in planning and monitoring their child’s progress.
  • Program Development: Evaluate and enhance school-wide policies and practices related to inclusion and diversity, aligning with IB standards, Norwegian requirements, and best practices.
  • Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure all learning diversity practices adhere to local regulations, IB policies, and international standards for inclusive education.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, or a related field (Master’s level education preferred)
  • HKDir/NOKUT approved teaching qualifications

Skills and experience

  • Excellent English Language skills, both written and oral (B2 minimum), Norwegian language skills are beneficial 
  • Proven experience with inclusive education, IEP development, and differentiated instruction, preferably within an IB or international school setting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team, including experience coordinating targeted interventions
  • Familiarity with Norwegian child and educational support systems, particularly BUP and PPT, and knowledge of local policies on inclusive education
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience in collaborative, multidisciplinary work environments
  • Commitment to promoting equity, inclusivity, and the well-being of all students
