We are seeking a Service Engineer to join our team at Kongsberg Maritime in Trondheim. In this role you will be responsible for the service and support of digital applications within KONGSBERG’s Sensing Solutions product range.

Kongsberg Maritime delivers a wide range of digital solutions, including proprietary systems such as K-IMS, K-CMS, K-GSN, and K-Gauge Connect. Your primary focus will be on supporting and developing applications for our product lines, with emphasis on cloud-based solutions and cyber security. As part of the Global Customer Support team you will provide technical support for customers and collaborate closely with colleagues across Norway and around the world. In addition, you will work closely with our product, R&D, and project departments.

Key accountabilities

• Design, testing and configuration of digital solutions within Sensing Solutions product range
• Remote configuration and service of systems, ensuring seamless data flow ranging from sensor to cloud
• Support product and project departments with relevant know-how during product development and system deliveries
• Technical support to global colleagues and customers, including occasional global travels for attending vessels either in yards or during sailing

Qualifications and experience

• Relevant technical background, typically bachelor’s degree in IT, Network/Cyber Security, electronics, instrumentation, automation or similar. Relevant experience, knowledge and interests will compensate for lack of formal education
• Knowledge of signal processing, data transmission, serial lines, networks, routers and databases (e.g. MS SQL, Postgres, OSIsoft PI)
• Field experience from maritime and/or offshore oil & gas installations will be an advantage
• Good oral and written communication skills in English and Norwegian/Scandinavian
• Highly motivated for worldwide support activities (some travelling is required)

This employment may require security clearance by the Norwegian National Security Authority, clearance through Civil Aviation Authority or a background check.

Work location
Trondheim, with occasional worldwide travels. We are located at the Kongsberg building at Grilstad Marina, where we as part of the Automation and Control division have a complete operation consisting of Manufacturing and Warehouse, Project, Product, R&D, and Customer Support. In total, we are approx. 170 employees here at Kongsberg Maritime Grilstad.
