COSL Drilling Europe, a safe and efficient drilling contractor dedicated to delivering on the energy transition with its cutting-edge, low-emission drilling rigs, is currently seeking skilled and motivated Marine Section Leader 2 (night-position) to join our team.
By 2025, our ambition is to provide climate-neutral drilling services and set a new market standard.
Our rig portfolio has a proven track record of having the most efficient and best performing rigs in the North Sea, with Energy Control Systems already delivering substantial CO2 and NOx reductions. The rigs are compact, with low PoB and operated by a highly competent and experienced team. We are certified with the ISO 14001 Environmental Management standard and the ISO 50001 Energy Management System standard and continuously invest in technology and competence that reduce emissions and bring long-term value creations for our customers and society.
The MSL 2`s tasks and responsibilities are, but not limited to, following:
- Perform active leadership in close cooperation with OIM and other section leaders.
- Actively involve him/herself in HR tasks that include, but are not limited to; appraisal interviews, sick leave follow-up, general personnel collaboration and keeping a close dialog with shore-based management about the same.
- Liaise with MSL 1 regarding all important matters related to day-to-day operation of platform.
- Ensure that all ballast operations and cargo movements on the MODU are properly controlled and carried out in full compliance with Operations Manuals.
- Responsible for all loading and unloading of all supplies received onboard and distribution of same. Ensure that all maintenance on hull, lifting equipment and deck are properly carried out onboard drilling unit.
- Responsible for the stability of the MODU and for ballast operations. Ensure that stability calculations are made daily
Suitable applicants should ideally have:
- Fit to work offshore, including work night-shifts since this is a night-position
- Basic Safety Training – STCW
- Deck Officer Certificate class 2
- DP Certificate unlimited
- GOC/GMDSS ISPS Ship Security Officer
- Offshore Medical Certificate
- Offshore Medical Certificate for marine officers
- Chemical Handling – basic knowledge
- ISM introduction
- ISPS Designated Security Duties
- NORSOK R-003 Operational Responsible
- Norwegian Rules & Regulations/RVK
- Rigging course (O 2.2 + 3.2)

COSL Drilling Europe was established in 2005, and has its head office located in Stavanger, Norway. Today we operate four modern drilling units. We have a solid owner with stable ratings in China Oilfield Services Limited, listed at the Shanghai Stock Exchange, with ambitions to strengthen its foothold in the North Sea. Our four semi-submersible drilling rigs were delivered from the yard respectively in November 2010 (COSLPioneer), November 2011 (COSLInnovator), May 2012 (COSLPromoter) and November 2014 (COSLProspector). The first drilling operations started in Norway in August 2011 and COSL Drilling Europe has since then been in continuous operation drilling and completing wells in Norway, UK, Faroe Islands and New Zealand. The drilling units are of a similar design and have all proven strong and consistent performance deliveries. Our rig portfolio has a proven track record of having the most efficient and best-performing rigs in the North Sea. COSL is setting a new standard in the North Sea with its energy efficiency. Our ambition is to deliver carbon neutral drilling operations within 2025. |
