Aptoma is a SaaS company for media enterprises, building automation tools that help journalists and editors focus on high-value content. Founded in 2004, we are based in Oslo, Norway, and Gothenburg, Sweden.

Our vision is to enable journalists and editors to perform their job seamlessly, without our tools getting in the way. We support dozens of media groups across Scandinavia and the Nordics, impacting hundreds of digital sites and print publications with thousands of editorial users. Aptoma is a B2B SaaS company, fully owned by our staff with no external investors. Our core business revolves around licensing our SaaS services. About the Teams

DrEdition is all about automating editorial workflows. We make tools that help journalists and editors focus on what they do best: creating content. Our platform has reimagined print production inside the browser – and yes, print is still a big deal. For most media companies, daily editions still account for over 50% of revenue.

DrPublish is our article production system. It's used daily by thousands of journalists. The tech stack is solid (PHP 8.x, MySQL 8.x, AWS), but we've got legacy parts to improve and big ambitions for the next version. If that sounds fun to you – great. We're not looking for someone to keep the lights on; we want someone who wants to rebuild the house.

The Team

Aptoma consists of 16 software developers, most of whom are also involved in technical operations (DevOps). The company has two employees handling sales, management, and accounting. Teams are structured around editorial workflows and SaaS technical operations.

Role 1: Back-end Developer – DrEdition Team

We're looking for a back-end developer who's not afraid of the front end. Your work might include:

• Writing and maintaining Node.js apps to control headless browsers.

• Improving our React-based frontend.

• Deploying and managing services on AWS.

• Creating serverless functions or Docker microservices.

What you should know:

• Back-end: APIs, MongoDB, MySQL.

• Front-end: JavaScript, HTML, CSS.

• UX: Basic understanding – enough to care about how things look and work.

• Infrastructure: Cloud experience (AWS, Azure, etc.).

Our preferred stack is Node.js, React, JavaScript, MongoDB, MySQL, and AWS – but we're flexible.

Role 2: Tech Lead / Senior Back-end Developer – DrPublish Team

We need someone experienced to lead back-end work on our CMS. This includes:

• Maintaining and modernizing PHP and MySQL back-end systems.

• Guiding technical improvements and architecture decisions.

• Making admin GUIs more usable (Vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS).

• Managing infrastructure (mostly AWS).

What you should know:

• Back-end: APIs, MySQL, document databases.

• Front-end: Vanilla JavaScript, HTML, CSS.

• UX: You'll work on admin UIs, so some UX awareness is essential.

• Infrastructure: Cloud ops experience required.

The current stack is PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and AWS – and we're open to evolving it.
