(Senior) Advisor Digital Developments

The Norwegian Red Cross is part of the Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement, the world’s largest humanitarian network with millions of volunteers operating in over 190 countries. The RCRC Movement’s mission is to alleviate human suffering, protect life and health, and uphold human dignity especially during armed conflicts and other emergencies. The Norwegian Red Cross works internationally in approximately 20 countries, focussing on health, wash and protection in conflicts and protracted crises.  This role is placed in the International Programs and Preparedness department, serving our international operations and country and regional offices abroad. 

 

This role is at the heart of Norwegian Red Cross mission to drive digital transformation across our global activities. As the person responsible for our international digitalization efforts, you’ll also take on the pivotal role of Product Owner for PIMS (Project Information Management System)—our central document repository and project database. Your work will directly impact how we use technology to work more intelligently, streamline collaboration with partners, and push the boundaries of digital tools to strengthen humanitarian action.
In this role, you will also oversee initiatives aimed at improving data quality, information management and compliance. This is an exciting opportunity to be a catalyst for impactful change, using digital solutions to enhance our global humanitarian efforts.

Key tasks

The Senior Advisor Digital Developments  has the responsibility to  coordinate the efforts within digitalisation and better use of data, in addition to being Product Owner for the primary digital tool (PIMS) supporting Norwegian Red Cross’ international activities. This includes to:

  • Drive the enhancement of PIMS functionalities and integrations with other systems, in support of the IPP’s ambition to strengthen data and evidence-driven action;
  • Manage the PIMS project backlog, ensuring system developments are clear and prioritized based on user needs and organisational changes
  • Work closely with the PIMS system vendor to create specifications, acceptance criteria, and to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality features
  • Communicate PIMS product updates, timelines, and outcomes to training provider(s) and end users, keeping them informed of progress and changes.
  • Respond to ad hoc queries and support requests relating to digital activities across the department
  • Ensure good dialogue and coordination with other actors in the organization including ICT business partners;
  • Identify and prioritise needs and problems that can be solved through digitization and better use of data;
  • Develop business cases and requirements for priority needs;
  • Coordinate the development of functions and solutions based on dialogue with users, the application board, ICT business partner, and more;
  • Plan and ensure implementation and delivery of benefits;
  • Roll-out and dissemination in a predictable and sustainable manner

Formal qualifications

–        Bachelor degree within relevant field (e.g. )

–        4 years of experience from relevant/similar work including digital project management

–        Advanced knowledge of IT tools (Sharepoint-based applications, MS Suite, )

Personal  qualifications

 

  • Fluency in English. Working proficiency in Norwegian (B2-Bergenstest).
  • Keen interest in digitalisation within the humanitarian sector

 

Desirable:

  • Other languages are an asset (especially Spanish and/or French)
  • Experience with NGO Online and Microsoft Dynamics: Finance and Operations modules
  • Very good ability to cooperate and share competence
  • Very good ability to see details and identify deviations

  • Good ability to communicate effectively
