Researcher Position in Mathematics

About the position

Applications are invited for a 1-year Researcher Position in Mathematics at the Department of Mathematics, University of Oslo. The position is set to begin on February 1, 2025, though there is some flexibility regarding the start date.

This position is part of the research project “Numerical Analysis of Stochastic TRANsport” (NASTRAN), funded by the Research Council of Norway. The project’s goal is to develop mathematical and numerical methods for analyzing stochastic transport equations, which are critical for understanding how random fluctuations affect dynamic systems such as turbulence, water waves, and compressible fluid motion. The research will focus on hyperbolic-parabolic partial differential equations, nonlinear wave equations, and compressible Navier-Stokes equations. The appointed fellow will conduct research within one or more of the work packages of NASTRAN, which span various mathematical fields, including partial differential equations, functional analysis, and stochastic analysis. For more information about the project, see [https://www.mn.uio.no/math/english/research/projects/nastran/index.html].
