About the position of a dispatcher
What is a dispatcher?
The Dispatch Team represents ECS on the pier by coordinating and implementing the daily tour schedule to ensure smooth and safe operations. Dispatchers are trusted to proactively plan, solve problems, and offer timely updates to all involved parties. Dispatchers are expected to maintain professionalism during hectic dispatch operations while ensuring all tours are completed satisfactorily and with attention to detail. Above all, dispatchers are team-oriented, supportive, and empathetic, striving to provide outstanding service to visiting guests.
Key responsibilities of a dispatcher include:
- Greeting guides and distributing itineraries
- Receiving buses and giving clear parking instructions to bus drivers.
- Counting tickets and tracking departure/arrival times
- Reporting incidents and irregularities
- Other relevant tasks
Dispatchers work outdoors in all weather conditions, and NGS will provide the appropriate gear to ensure comfort and safety. Bergen's peak cruise season runs from May to the end of September. Dispatchers are offered temporary seasonal employment contracts and are paid on an hourly basis.
