Head engineer in immunology

About the position

A permanent position as an engineer is available at the Department of Immunology at the University of Oslo, located at Rikshospitalet.

The laboratories of Dr. Victor Greiff and Dr. Fridtjof Lund-Johansen are engaged in a large research program that involves high throughput production and characterization of recombinant antibodies and antigens. The main responsibility of the engineer will be to produce and use bead-based arrays and flow cytometry to characterize thousands of recombinant antibodies and antigens.

The position is externally funded. 

Work tasks

  • Production of bead-based arrays by multi-color fluorescent barcoding
  • Use of robotics to bind recombinant antibodies and target proteins to beads
  • Use of bead-based arrays and flow cytometry to measure binding of antibodies and antigens to bead subsets
  • Analysis of raw flow cytometric data and export to spreadsheet formats that can be imported into applications for downstream analysis

Qualification requirements

  • A minimum of a master’s degree in at least one of the following fields: immunology, biochemistry, molecular biology 
  • Experience with bead-based arrays, liquid handling robotics, multi-color flow cytometry and analysis of flow cytometric data is necessary
  • The candidate must be fluent in English written and spoken

Personal skills

  • We seek a highly motivated person who can work in an international team of highly qualified researchers
  • Good communication skills are essential
  • Flexibility regarding working hours is an advantage

  • Gross salary from 548 600- 657 300 per annum depending on qualifications in a position as head engineer, position code (1087)
