About the job
We are looking to employ a qualified and experienced English teacher to work in our secondary school department as part of a highly motivated and collaborative teaching team. BISS Gausel offers the IB Middle Years Programme, a balanced curriculum that promotes the acquisition of key skills and behaviours through inquiry-based learning.
The role of the English teacher will be to implement the MYP English curriculum, to teach the objectives of the subject as defined by the IB, and to further develop the English curriculum.
This is a permanent, full-time position available from August 2025.
Qualifications and experience
- HKDir (NOKUT) approved teaching qualifications for secondary school (grunnskole)
- Excellent English language skills, both written and oral (minimum B2)
- Experience teaching secondary students (age 11-17)
- Knowledge and experience of the educational philosophies and practices of the IB
Skills and personal qualities
- IT literate and comfortable using a variety of digital platforms such as Office 365, Toddle and Classter.
- A thorough and up-to-date understanding of the best approaches to teaching for the age group 11-17
- The ability to plan, deliver and reflect on curriculum and lessons in a way which will stimulate, motivate and engage students' learning and agency
- The ability to ensure inclusion through universal design of lessons and differentiated instruction
- Employ strategies to empower learning in a diverse group of students
- Outstanding collaboration skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Be organised and reliable
- Engage actively and enthusiastically to contribute to a positive school environment
