Who are you and why is your role important to us? 

We are looking for a skilled researcher within fish reproduction and broodstock management, who wants to contribute to making aquaculture a sustainable industry for the future.  As a researcher in AquaGen, you will make important contributions to the company's year-round supply of high-quality salmon and trout eggs, containing the best-performing genetics in the world.

As a researcher in reproduction and broodstock management, you will use your expertise to improve our routines for broodstock handling, -fertilization and incubation of fertilized eggs. You will find and implement new solutions related to egg production. You will contribute to solving emerging challenges, in close collaboration with AquaGen's production department. With us, your expertise, experience and ideas will be translated into real value for the aquaculture industry, for our fish, for society and the environment. 

In terms of personal qualities, we are looking for someone who likes to work independently as well as in a team. You have good analytical skills, an interest in aquaculture, and the ability to plan and carry out trials related to reproduction in salmonids. You are able to form relationships with others in the company, especially other personnel who are involved in egg production and broodstock management, but also across disciplines and functions within the company.

We are especially looking for candidates with 

• PhD in fish biology, reproductive biology, veterinary science or similar 
• Expertise in fish reproductive biology and/or broodstock management
• Good insight into and/or experience with aquaculture production (a very strong background in aquaculture production can compensate for a more limited expertise in reproduction)
• English as a working language, with the ability to communicate well orally and in writing 

It’s preferrable if you have 

• experience in aquaculture companies or research institutions
•  Norwegian or Spanish language skills

Our head office is in Trondheim and we have branches in Heim, Tingvoll, Ørsta, Steigen, Ås, Denmark, Scotland and Chile. As a Senior reproduction researcher, you get to work across our locations and the position requires relatively frequent travel, also internationally. The position is organized in the Breeding and R&D department.
